The Longest Line

Success as pair complete 50-mile challenge in Scotland on a single bearing without crossing a road

In August of last year we sent two determined adventurers and a film crew to tackle the longest straight line in Britain without crossing a road. Testing out all the new EXPED 2022 kit at the same time, as well as some of our other Lyon brand products.

Calum Maclean and Jenny Graham, hiked, climbed, scrambled and waded the straight line route from the A9 to the A939 through the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.

They followed a bearing of 67 degrees (approximately east-northeast) for four days nonstop, wild camping each night wherever they stopped.

As well as making the crossing the team also created an amazing film, which has been shown at mountain film festivals across the UK and overseas. It has won best short film at the Fort William Mountain Festival. The film / story of their adventure forms a key part of our EXPED marketing plan for 2022 and you will see coverage of this across the outdoor press including BASE Magazine, Outdoors Magic, Trek and Mountain and Wired For Adventure as well as through film partners Montane and Ordnance Survey.
