Product Description
Mega in size, comfort, and warmth: this is as comfortable as it can get at basecamp, in a camper van or where light weight is not the main priority. MegaMat pioneers a new generation of self inflating 3D mats with a level sleeping surface from edge to edge. This feature combined with the luxurious thickness and simple inflation make it a synonym for comfort.
Smart SideWinder Bag included: Height-adjustable roll top bag with carry strap, which can also be used as a shoulder bag
I have camped for years in different ways, back packing with my partner with light gear and now car camping with the kids so I’ve had different sleeping set ups and differing quality including a women’s specific Sea to Summit which I really appreciate but this Mega mat is a game changer for car camping with the kids. I bought the wide / double to share and it was brilliant on its first outing in Scotland’s Cairngorms during a cold April over night temps hovered between 0 degrees - 4 degrees C over night and this mat kept out the cold and I really like how soft it is and there’s no roll together when sharing with someone else. Even on sale I was hesitant about price but I’m so glad I invested in this outstanding piece of kit, it will be a versatile well used mattress for many years. I followed instruction on inflating at home before going camping and practiced rolling it up tight and even when rolled it up fairly quickly on the campsite the generous stuff sack still kept it together (before doing it properly again when we got home). I would highly recommend this one for couples, families, car camping or informal van camping!
Still pending to actually use outdoors, but I've tested it for a few days at home for naps and hanging out, and I've got to say it's the best inflatable mattress I've laid onto, and I've slept on quite a handful of those at friend's houses back in my day - I've never really owned as Ive mostly slept on hammocks while camping, but I think I've made the right call here!
The little pump I thought would be almost useless as it doesn't look like much, but despite being super light, it's remarkably efficient. It took about 10 minutes to inflate completely, then a couple more to "calibrate" for firmness deflating it a bit afterwards.
It's really comfortable, soft to touch (this gives it the 5th star for me because I'm quite sensitive to how these feel on the skin and it's the number one reason I tend to hate inflatable mattresses) and wide enough to roll around and change positions. Deflating it is as easy as any other; just fold vertically then fold, pressure, fold, pressure, fold, pressure, and the carry bag is roomy enough so you don't to force it back in at all. No picture because at the moment it's in the storage and can't be bothered but it's just like in the pictures; the colour is perhaps not as grassy as in the 4th picture and more towards a tealish green hue, like in the 5th picture.
I have arthritis and i have never been able to do more than 2 nights camping because i’m in agony and not been able to sleep. We’ve tried inflatable beds, camp cots, jay-bee folding beds with springs and i’ve still dreaded camping because of sleeping. The megamat i seen advertised and talked about on forums, i was skeptical that something foldable, inflatable and not overly that deep could be comfy in any way especially with a heavy set man and me on it but let me tell you it’s the comfiest thing i have slept on apart from my bed at home. The fabric is a lovely feel, there is no movement of the mat once down, there is no cold air that comes up from underneath, it’s plenty big (got the duo LW+) , the only thing that lets it down is the price. I managed to get it on sale at £252 which in the scheme of what i’ve spent for rubbish beforehand actually seems reasonable but full price to be unsure is a big risk. I would like to now get all my children the singles. I would have loved the 15 version but at £510 i just couldn’t risk it - although now i wish i had. YOU WON’T REGRET INVESTING - i’m currently on camp day 4 right now.
So comfortable
